Biography
I'm Hana Gebremedhin, a fourth-year software engineering student at Wolkite University with a focus on becoming a proficient MERN stack developer. My journey in tech has been driven by a passion for problem-solving and a fascination with how websites and applications work. From a young age, I've been committed to education as a tool to overcome challenges. Growing up in Addis Ababa, I transitioned from private to public school due to financial constraints, but I never let that hold me back. My academic achievements led to unique opportunities, such as the African Girls Can Code training at the African Union, where I gained foundational skills in animation, gaming, and robotics.
At university, I’ve honed my skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React, and I'm actively working toward mastering the MERN stack by the end of this year. Through internships and projects—including a web development role with Prodigy Info Tech and current client work—I’m strengthening my practical experience and expanding my technical expertise. My involvement in the Presidential Mentorship Program and the Girls Can Be a Leader initiative has also shaped my leadership skills and instilled in me a strong sense of social responsibility.
Alongside my technical skills, I'm passionate about UX design, mobile app development, and competitive programming, always looking for ways to expand my capabilities and explore new tech areas. I aim to work independently as a coder, without relying heavily on resources like ChatGPT or Google, and build the confidence to create solutions from scratch.
While I’ve faced personal challenges, from financial limitations to insecurities, I’m continuously working on building resilience and confidence. My journey in software engineering hasn’t always been easy, but I’m committed to pushing through, growing my skills, and contributing meaningfully to the tech community.
