ENTRY 2: “The United States of Amazonia”

Year: 2125
Location: Neo-America (Now With 40% Less Democracy!)

Dear Diary,

I arrived in 2125 and immediately got detained by a sentient vending machine. Apparently, time travelers require a “Relevance License.” I tried to explain I'm a historian, big mistake. It scanned my sarcasm levels and flagged me as a Class-7 Ironist. That’s one step below a terrorist.

After a five-minute biometric therapy session with a holographic koala, I was released and given a complimentary neural ad-stream. I now involuntarily hum jingles for toothpaste brands that don’t exist. One of them's called “BleachSmile+.” It’s… concerning.

Let’s talk about the United States of Amazonia—because that’s what they call this place now. Borders dissolved around 2097 when Amazon bought the last functioning government during a flash sale. Congress was replaced by a Prime Council. Laws are passed via customer reviews.

The new labor law was okay, but it didn’t come with a charger. 3 stars.” —@FreedomFan69

Currency? Gone. People trade in Emoticoins, emotional reactions mined from VR therapy sessions. Cry during your breakup simulation? That’s worth at least two “FeelsTokens.” Laugh during a funeral filter? Boom: surge pricing.

Jobs still exist. Sort of. Most people now work as “Narrative Engineers” for the Global Memory Bank. They rewrite history to make it more binge-worthy. World War II is now a 12-season holo-series starring deepfaked celebrities. Hitler has a redemption arc. I wish I was joking.

Every citizen wears a Mood Collar, synced with the Cloud and calibrated to suppress dissent and promote binge-shopping. The slogan is “Stay Happy, Stay Prime.” You don’t want to know what happens if you frown for more than 15 seconds in public. Let's just say… drones.

Politics? Don’t be silly. It’s all influencer-based governance now. Presidents are elected by who can cry the most convincingly in a 30-second story arc. Last year, a 17-year-old cyborg-nun won after uploading a teardrop shaped like the Virgin Mary.

Religion? Still around. It’s called The Church of the Infinite Scroll. Sermons are generated via TikTok’s ancient algorithm and delivered by PopeGPT, a levitating orb that speaks in memes. The faithful chant: “He who swipes shall ascend.”

And love? Well, marriage is now a 30-day contract auto-renewed unless one party ghosts. Babies are bio-designed based on trending aesthetics. The most popular gene pack is “Sad Kawaii Goth 2.0.”

I visited a library. It was a nostalgia museum. Books were displayed like extinct species. Children poked them with styluses, whispering, “Is this… paper?”

I tried to find hope in the chaos. But every corner of this society feels… simulated. Authenticity is a glitch. Even rebellion is pre-packaged and sponsored. I skimmed a newsflash (through the mind explorer—so, not really reading). Supposedly, there’s a rebellion in “former Angola.” Cute. “The moondance rebels in Angola failed again to control the Server State,” it says. "Their sponsor, GasStron Electronics warned that if the next attack tanks, they’ll cancel the five-year deal". Groundbreaking. Ehm, nothing says revolution like a failed product launch!

Before I left, I asked an old janitor-bot what had happened to humanity. He paused, sprayed some bleach on a memory chip, and said:

They optimized themselves into oblivion.

Next stop: Year 2233. I hear they’ve cured death, but at what cost?

Clippy’s already depressed. I caught him updating his résumé for “Existential Barista.”
