Cryptocurrency exchange Bitunix has increased its Care Fund from $30 million to $50 million USDC, expanding the financial reserve intended to compensate users affected by exceptional incidents.
The company also disclosed the fund's blockchain address, enabling users to monitor its on-chain activity through Etherscan.
According to Bitunix, the expanded reserve now covers the total value of its hot wallets, which remain connected to the internet to facilitate transactions and withdrawals.
The announcement comes amid growing scrutiny of centralized cryptocurrency exchanges and their security safeguards, where custody arrangements, reserve verification and customer protection increasingly influence trust.
Bitunix uses third-party custody providers Fireblocks and Cobo, alongside cold storage and multiparty computation technology.
The move also reflects broader efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability through blockchain verification.
However, compensation is not automatic. Claims remain subject to investigation and eligibility requirements, while public blockchain visibility alone does not establish independent auditing of the entire protection arrangement.
