Visa announced on August 25 that it has joined the Monetary Authority of Singapore's BLOOM initiative, naming cross-border payments firm Nium as its first partner for a pilot that settles transactions in stablecoins seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays. The pilot uses U.S. dollar and euro-denominated stablecoins backed by major currencies. Through this pilot, Visa is enabling 24/7 settlement and seamless interoperability for the region's businesses and their customers.

Notably, Visa and Nium had already announced a similar seven-day settlement capability running on Circle's USDC on November 12, 2025. The latest development moves this existing bilateral arrangement inside Singapore's regulated BLOOM framework and expands it to include euro-denominated stablecoins. Nium Chief Compliance & Risk Officer Amaresh Mohan commented on the partnership.

BLOOM launched on October 17, 2025, building on Singapore's earlier Project Orchid work. Ripple was the first crypto-native firm to join BLOOM in March 2026. The shift toward stablecoin integration by traditional financial giants reflects a broader trend of legacy payment systems adapting to digital asset infrastructure, a theme that needs to be explored through the lens of evolving regulatory frameworks and institutional adoption.
