SoftBank Robotics Singapore and SJ Integrated Solutions have agreed to develop an AI-powered facilities-management system that connects service robots with the software and infrastructure used to operate buildings.

The collaboration has two tracks: testing service robots in existing facilities and building software that coordinates those machines with wider facilities operations. Pilot sites will include SJ Campus in Singapore, where the companies plan to measure robot performance against agreed operational baselines.

The project reflects a broader shift from robots as isolated machines toward systems that can adapt to changing environments. Recent work has shown how robots can learn new physical skills from a single short example, while other research is pushing robotic intelligence from cloud systems toward faster local decision-making. More capable generalist controllers are also giving robots greater flexibility across whole-body tasks.

The proposed platform will combine SJ-IS’s 24K system, a new robotics-management layer and facilities software with SoftBank’s Smart Building X platform. Connections to lifts, doors and access-control systems are also planned.

The companies say pilot results will guide development before broader commercialization in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and other markets.
